Biomass Renewable Energy

Biomass renewable energy refers to the type of energy that is extracted from plant substances, human and animal wastes. It has been in use from the early days by ancestors as the only renewable energy and is still used with the current generation. It is made to supplement the high cost and shortage of conventional energy.

Biomass is basically natural materials and when burned, they discharge a lot of heat. Through direct combustion, energy within the biomass is captured since the boilers used to burn it, produce steam for direct electricity production or use within industrial process. Biomass materials can also produce energy through chemical and biochemical treatment and later converted to energy rich fuels like bio diesel and bio gas.

Bio-fuel is one of the products of biomass energy produced from an accumulation of different plants from diverse sources .These accumulated plants decompose immensely and bio fuels such as bio-ethanol and bio diesel is hauled out from the remains of the putrefied plant materials used to power vehicle engines and generating conventional energy like electricity. This makes it cost effective because it makes it cheap to obtain other energy sources for domestic and industrial use.

Another benefit of biomass energy is that it helps in reducing results of global warming in the sense that it decreases emission of gases which trap heat such as carbon dioxide. Biomass releases a lot of oxygen which offers solution to containing the problem of carbon dioxide in the environment. It is clean source of energy that does not pollute the environment.

Biomass renewable energy when properly utilized helps in boosting economic growth of a nation because when it is installed and produced in large scales, it eliminates the use of any other source of energy such as foreign oil supply. Acquiring foreign oil is very expensive and it costs a country a lot of money to import which when evaded, that money can be channeled to other projects like building infrastructures which facilitates economic development. Use of biomass system in commercial units also helps in reducing operating costs which translates to increased profit.

Another advantage is that it is a source of energy which is inexhaustible if properly harnessed making it readily available and helps in reducing the amount of human, agricultural and industrial wastes out of landfills because these are its sources for production.

Biomass renewable energy is very reliable source of energy in the sense that you don’t need to wait for sun to shine or wind to blow so as to utilize it. This makes it popular with many people since it can be used anywhere for various applications.

However, biomass renewable energy has some negative aspects in that it is ales concentrated form of energy that can reduce its efficiency. If burned erroneously, it will produce emissions which could be dangerous to environment and human.

Biomass is a sustainable source of energy and to uphold the sustainability, large tracks of land are needed to grow a lot of trees and plants. This reduces amount of land used for agricultural and food production.
